Poetry of Flight

Alison Hill's third collection, Sisters in Spitfires celebrates the women who flew with the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) during the Second World War. Her new biography of Senior Commandant Pauline Gower will be published by The History Press in September 2022.
This poetry collection is a real labour of love - a celebration of the unsung heroines of the civilian organisation the ATA... the women come vividly to life, all of them larger than life characters.
Pippa Little, The Lake
Alison's poetry has appeared in a range of magazines and anthologies. 'To a Girl on Platform Three' was nominated by SOUTH for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem and her first full collection, Slate Rising (Indigo Dreams, 2014) was nominated for the TS Eliot Prize. A new collection, Rebel Diamonds, is on the runway.
She founded and ran Rhythm & Muse for ten years and was Kingston Libraries' first Poet in Residence. She has devised events and workshops for schools, galleries, museums and libraries, and welcomes creative projects and commissions.
